Jefferson's Views Towards Slavery in the State of Virginia.
This paper shall explore the views of Jefferson towards slavery as is discussed in his Notes, and places these thoughts within the reference frame of the period. This will demonstrate how Jefferson did not see slavery as the social evil it has since been acknowledged as, but also that he did recognize slavery as a practice that he was unwilling to cease outright through emancipation.
