A Comparison and Contrast of the USA Patriot Act with 1984 by George Orwell
This paper will compare and contrast the USA Patriot Act with George Orwell's novel 1984. By understanding the Patriot Acts denial of basic rights, such as a right to legal defense and privacy, we can surely see why this law goes too far in "protecting American citizens from terrorism". The aim of the law, although it seeks to defend Americans, is actually harrassing foreign born citizens in a similar manner to Orwell's nightmarish Oceania.
