Impacts of Technological Development on Architectural Expression
This paper examines the significant role that technological development plays in influencing architectural expression. In order to do so, the paper discusses the Home Insurance Building by Jenney, the Fagus Factory by Gropius, and the Glass Pavilion by Taut. The common link between all three is argued, to be the introduction of cheap Bessemer steel into commercial architecture.
