This paper is a history and analysis of Chinese immigration to Canada, and in particular the effects of urban stratification in Toronto's Chinese communities. The essay discusses the history of immigration of Chinese to Canada, and focuses on how race and class conflicts have contributed to producing Chinese ghettos in urban Toronto. The essay asserts that Toronto's Chinatown is as much shaped by class and gender, as it is shaped by class and racism. 14 pgs. 5 sources.
