This paper comprehensively reviews the topic of identity theft from defining the crime to outlining its growth, through discussion of what respective governmental and crime prevention agencies have done - and are doing to prevent its perpetuation. Furthermore, this paper discusses what motivates the identity thief, how people can protect themselves from this crime and other pertinent data.
