Implications of the Feeney Amendment on Canadian Policing

In this paper we will discus the Implications of the Feeney Amendment on Canadian Policing. On thing we will consider is if the opportunity gained by the Feeney judgment should be celebrated as a due process triumphs or whether this decision is merely a reflection of a court that is mislead and misguided. Clearly the Feeney case, and its decision have caused a reevaluation of what an individuals rights are, and how they should be protected. The Implications of the Feeney case are far and wide, and we need to think very carefully on what kind of precedent this ruling sets. Does Feeney go to far in protecting an individuals rights? Is the world so changed now by 9/11 that we need to give our police more legal tools to fight crime? These are important questions raised by Feeney that we hope to answer in this paper.
