Metacognitive Awareness and its Effect on the Students Ongoing Development as Successful Strategic Readers
The effectiveness of metacognition as a tool used to enhance the students reading processes is debated. While metacognition has shown demonstrable success in enhancing the students ability to approach written material, this process has occurred with varying results. This paper shall provide an overview on metacognitive processes and explore the literature which indicates its impact on the student in regards to reading. A brief summary of the origins of metacognition and metacognitive processes is provided to clarify the scope of this paper.
