Teaching Geometry in a Montessori Classroom

This paper discusses methods to teach geometry in a Montessori classroom. Students usually a knowledge of simple geometric terms such as circles, lines, and squares. When they are between the ages of 6-9 they begin to want to know more about different objects. The best way to teach geometry is through using the child's creativity. The paper discusses how the child can use a measuring tape or ruler to learn the size of different objects. There are no correct sequences in the Montessori classroom because materials are designed for the student to set his own pace.
