Sexuality and Social Relations: An Analysis of Implication
This four-page undergraduate paper examines whether sexuality occurs in isolation from other forces and fragmentations within systems of power, and concludes that the balance of the evidence indicates that sexuality can be influenced by social systems and by traditional notions of gender roles, but that it is more often a product of individual desire or ones particular self-image, agenda, or personality. The author notes that despite previous notions to the contrary, most non-Western women are active agents of their own sexual identities.
