This paper considers the chauvinism shows toward women in the early church and the doctrines on which it was based, derived from the Genesis story in the Bible and then expanded in other texts both biblical and otherwise, showing women in a secondary positing in society, separating men and women in worship and other ways, and contributing to attitudes still prevalent in some places today.
