Illiteracy in domestic workers has a negative effect on the productivity and the profitability of the economic sections in which these workers are employed. The effects of illiteracy among workers are myriad, involving everything from problems with management to accepting periodic changes in technologies. As illiteracy rates are increasing in unskilled worker populations, it is assumed that the problems relating to such workers will likewise increase. This situation demands an understanding of both illiteracy rates and the problems of illiteracy among domestic workers. This paper provides a review of the applicable research in order to investigate the extent of problems relating to illiteracy among domestic workers. 50 pgs. Bibliography lists 50 sources.
