This paper discusses labor disputes with the air zones. Imagine planning your vacation months in advance to travel to Hawaii. Imagine the disappointment to find the airports on strike and you will have to cancel your vacation. Under the Railway Labor Act, the pilots of the aircrafts will be able to strike. In April of 2001 there were 1,300 pilots that were on strike at Comair, "Delta's regional commuter airline" (Freeman 1). The problem in 2001 with the airlines and strikes has partially been affected by President Bush's threat to interfere. "In this context, some union leaders interpreted President Bush's promise to prevent strikes at major carriers this year as a heavy-handed effort to help management keep wages down and unions on the defensive" (Freeman 1). President Bush blocked the strikes against the Northwest Airlines for over 60 days as he cited the need to protect the citizens of America from travel disputes.
