This essay deals with one narrative aspect of Yann Martel's novel Life of Pi, namely the use of detail and whether or not the storytelling is realistic. Martel uses detail in a very innovative way in this story, in order to tell a special version of the truth. In some places there is great attention to detail, but other details are glossed over and a realistic fantasy story is created.
