Early Buddhist Illuminated Manuscripts: Treasures from Nepal
This eight page undergraduate paper examines early Buddhist manuscripts from Nepal. These manuscripts were generally inscribed and painted on palm-leaf and paper. The inscribed and illuminated manuscripts were sometimes protected between elaborately painted and carved wooden covers. The most important manuscripts, such as the Prajñaparamita sutra, The Perfection of Wisdom, were often encased in large, richly gilded panels.
