Independence and Industrial Change: Texas Society in the Wake of the Railroad.
This paper explores the coming of the railroad to Texas and how the impact and evolution of the railroads changed the course of this territory's history. An emphasis on comparing "traditional" aspects of Texas culture, such as the cattle drive, is achieved through exploring their functions both prior to and following the initial impact of the railroads.
