This paper examines the relationship between diamond exploitation and African development. Diamond production's roots in colonial exploitation and expropriation are identified. Additionally, their current links to civil warfare are outlined: guerilla forces use diamonds to procure cash, and cash to buy weapons. 5 pgs. Bibliography lists 5 sources.
