This paper contains an "elder tale" composed by he author, based on the work described in Allan Chinen's In the Ever After. It then offers an analysis of the tale, highlighting the importance of solitude in the 'elder' stage of life, and the symbolism of butterflies in the 'fairy tale' at the beginning of the paper.
